New Planets--update

Posted On: Sun, 08/20/2006 - 1:26pm by JoeAstrologer

The Associated Press announced over the weekend (August 20th,06)the potential for three new planets in the solar system to be included in textbooks. Lots of folks seem really surprized.

But for Astrologers this is no new surprise....for years a number of Astrologers have suggested this reality, plotting potential positions for the planets....

Of course the "new" is the fun part, in that these planets have existed from the time of the formation of our solar system.

Its going to be three "new" as a subcatagory to Pluto, called Pluton. The three casting influence upon or modifying Pluto. The group are already being referred to as Pluton.

Dreams and Astrology

Posted On: Sun, 07/30/2006 - 6:33pm by JoeAstrologer

Astrology is a system that can identify personal characteristics and needs. And empower us through mythological images leading to renewal or directing us to new levels of personal freedom. Let’s first reflect on ideas that can point to the value in the systematic use of symbols within the astrology wheel.

Psychologist Carl Jung coined the term collective unconscious. It refers to the set of symbolic archetypes that all humans seem to share, regardless of culture or location, thus having a universal quality. These images appear to be passed along genetically. Just as many animal species are predisposed to certain untaught behaviors such as the ability for birds to weave nests. Interestingly, many unconnected cultures also have myths or symbols that are alike or similar, especially hero myths. Symbols for water, space, air, and other overarching images are common in dreams regardless of geography or culture. The archetypes in dreams are in effect dualistic, in that they relate to personal matters but also are shared images with greater humanity. Interestingly early writing in various cultures, was a series of graphic images that could be read to derive meaning. A pictograph, picture image or symbol, that everyone could understand.

Symbolic Nature of Astrology

Posted On: Fri, 07/28/2006 - 12:19pm by JoeAstrologer

A few days ago I got caught up in a discussion on the question: is Astrology simply a symbolic system or are there real powers behind those symbols.

After further thought on the subject and my perspective I feel that actually there is a middle view on the matter that is rational and a representative of a functional modern model.

First of course we could define symbol as an graphic image of an idea, ancient in the case of archetypes. Or we can raise the meaning to include Astrology symbols as representational images of power. The source of that power can be nebulous but evident from empirical data (i.e. Mars: energy/action). Data collected, in the case of Astrology, not from a single source or study, but from the work of thousands of individuals over millenniums.

Themes, Blocks, and Settings: customizing your site

Posted On: Sun, 07/09/2006 - 12:49am by JoeAstrologer
By visiting as few as three pages you will be able to completely customize the look and features of your Bloggyland site:

Themes
The only job of themes is to handle the visual presentation of your website. By selecting any one of the pre-configured themes on the theme settings page, you can change the entire look of your site with just a click of a button. You can easily customize an existing theme or create your own theme using theme editor. Alternately, you can hire us to do it for you.

"Blocks"
Blocks are simply those titled features you see along the left and right hand sides of the page. By going to the block settings page you can easily turn blocks on or off, or arrange them in any order you would like them to appear. Additionally, you can make new blocks to display whatever specific information you'd like them to.

General settings
The settings page (click on the "General settings" tab once you're there) is where you can easily change the the site title, subtitle text, footer message, and "mission text". (go to the individual themes settings page to choose whether these elements are shown or hidden).

It is very easy for the adminstrator and users to add content, such as a new page, front page article, diary entry, photo album, etc. to a Bloggyland site. Of course, as an administrator, you can limit the type of content that user roles can add.

Just go to the create content link in your personal navigation menu. Descriptions for each content type are provided, along with links and directions to create the content.
